THE TEAM
Art Bardige is the Founder and President of Enablearning: Art started developing educational
technology in 1968, creating images to tell stories on silent 3 minutes of film using his background in teaching physics and field testing Harvard Project Physics. He broadened his interest in math education as a math curriculum coordinator while researching and writing a work on the history and theory of knowledge, The Invention of Knowledge (www.artifacts.com). He bought an Apple II in 1978 and soon started Learningways helping design and build interactive tools and platforms like Explore-a-Story, Point of View, ProcessWriter, and MathProcessor. After selling Learningways, he joined Simon & Schuster where he participated in much of their educational software development. In 1999 he founded Enablearning, teaming up with Larry Reeves and others to develop a next generation technology platform for learning, the EnableMath Program. EnableMath (www.enablemath.com) has been successfully applied in college developmental mathematics programs for the past several years, raising success rates in these courses by more than 20%. Art's recent book, New Physical Ideas Are Here Needed, outlines his proposal for a new technology of education, one that will enable every student to achieve their educational goals.
Dr. Laurence Reeves: Chief Operating Officer
With a distinguished record of more than 25 years in positions of leadership in higher education administration and technology management, Larry brings to Enablearning a deep knowledge of the academic arena. Immediately prior to joining Enablearning he served as the Executive Director of Massachusetts Colleges Online, where he was responsible for the development of the public college e-learning initiative, a consortium of twenty-four community and state colleges. Before that he served as President and Executive Vice President of North Shore Community College in Massachusetts where he oversaw the development of the college as a leader in the application of educational technology. Larry is primarily responsible for ensuring that the technology is employed effectively to meet the student's learning needs as well as the needs of the teacher, and parent for timely and useful data.
Keith McElhinney: Engineer
Keith has spent his career in educational software, first at the LTG group of Simon and Schuster, then at Riverdeep. Keith handles the "server-side" and management/reporting system. Enablearning's Maxwell technology stores every problem and answer in a database and Keith is responsible for building that power and mining its capability. In his other life Keith is a serious biker and trick rider.
Seth Paine
Seth has worked in the software industry for 12 years, the majority of those years in educational software. He started off at Learningways and continuing on when it became LTG. Seth is the Jack of all trades at Enablearning, doing IT support, Customer Support, and the front end web programming on enablemath.com. In his spare time, Seth volunteers for a Micro-Enterprise Development organization in the Boston area called PEER Servants.
Diana Szczesuil
Diana became interested in learning technologies as one method to aid students in developing their conceptual understanding of mathematics while she was an electrical engineering graduate student, at the University of California. Diana manages the content development process and is responsible for managing the revision cycle. An active designer, Diana constantly thinks about how learning occurs and how the interaction between learning objects and students works to enhance learning. In her other life, Diana enjoys hiking, back-country skiing, canoeing, and building Mindstorm Lego robots with her son Django.
Celeste Gallien: Art Director
