Keeping Score — Students are no different from adults, to get them to practice, to get them to do the work you have to keep score. We would all like to believe that learning can be so much fun, that our students should be so motivated, that our system of rewards and punishments should be so well thought out, that every student will automatically stay on track, practice, learn, and succeed. In the real world each and every one of us needs someone to keep track of what we do, to help us set a schedule, to show us our history so that we know where we have been and where we are going.
