Why should I bring EnableMath into my classroom?
I taught middle school math and was a consulting coordinator of math — I know how difficult it is in a self contained classroom for a teacher to have the resources needed to reach every student. We developed EnableMath to provide just those additional resources, the resources to help students who need remediation and the resources to help students who need and want acceleration.
Tracking student performance without being buried — I know that you know the importance of grading homework papers in a very timely fashion. And I know that is impossible. Teachers today are burdened by so many new demands and so many new requirements that the grading of homework has slipped down the scale for most of us. It cannot be helped. There are not enough hours in the day. But when you don’t grade homework, not only are you not providing your students with critical feedback, but you are also not getting the data from students that is necessary to direct your teaching. EnableMath was designed to give you and your students that feedback immediately and the data to guide your teaching.
Remediation — Students are coming to you with holes in their math fabric or without the fluency that they really need to keep moving forward. With EnableMath you can give those students special assignments that they can either do during class or at home. With these assignments they can fill in the holes or they can increase their speed and fluency. They can catch up to their classmates.
Acceleration — As teachers we face a deep dilemma in dealing with our accelerated or exceptional students. If we let them get ahead in their textbooks, they are not only learning by themselves, but we have to worry about what they will then face next year. Yet finding and supervising math materials that will broaden their perspective and yet at the same time keep them interested is far from easy in today’s classroom. EnableMath can provide you with a solution. You can let these students run ahead of the rest of the class while our management reports make it very easy for you to keep track of their progress. You can also choose to use EnableMath’s toolkits for the imagination to have these students doing a variety of interesting and exciting projects that will have them using math to program and learning math by doing math.
Average Students — EnableMath is of course also designed for average students and regular class work. It enables you to keep track, continuous track of every student’s homework without spending hours grading papers. It enables you to provide one-step-at-a-time examples on a just in time basis for students doing their homework. And it makes math visual so that all students can understand it. As you get comfortable using this new technology in the classroom, we hope that you will think about EnableMath as your math program for all students.
Can I replace my textbook with EnableMath? — Yes. EnableMath is a complete and comprehensive program. It is designed to be use as the learning support for normal instruction. It contains all of the content that a textbook does and much more.
